Club History
The Ringwood Bowls Club was founded in 1929 at the Miles Avenue site, Ringwood. The land was donated to the then Ringwood Council by Philip Bamford for a bowling green and croquet lawns.
The bowling green was officially opened by Robert G Menzies in 1931.
The Ladies Bowls Section was established in 1959 to coincide with with the relocation of the croquet club to Jubilee Park.
Mid-way through 1994 the Ringwood Council purchased the site of the former Norwood Primary School in Loughnan Road, Ringwood, with the relocation of the bowling club in mind.
As a result of further development to the Eastland Shopping Centre, the owners wanted to purchase the bowling club land for it's extension.
As Philip Bamford had specifically donated the land for a bowling club, the Council was duty bound to find another suitable site for the Ringwood Bowls Club.
The move to the new premises took place in January 1997 with a magnificent clubhouse, two grass greens and one artificial green.
